Journal 6 week 3 (journal about my concluding lesson)

What is your general feeling about TP at the end of the day? I think I was comfortable in explaining the concluding as it was easy because the subject was about day and night and the students understand it.

Reflect on the duties / activities did you carry out during the preschool today. How do you feel about your efforts? Was there anything you could have done to improve the quality of the learning experience for the children? I did an activity that was cut and glue so the students finished doing it in 5 min. I think I could improve my classroom management because I did not explain the safety of using the Scissor, nobody got hurt but my mentor advice to do that.

What was the most interesting activity or strategy you saw your MENTOR use? Why did you think it was interesting and worth noting/remembering? Compare this with previous TP experience. The teacher used a video to attract the students, the video talked about how is the sun is a big star, it is hot, and it is important to the earth. It was interesting cause the students understand the concept and they had fun singing the song.

What progress have you made in terms of your own personal targets for TP this semester? Which TP competencies do you feel you achieved and which do you think that you need to focus on next time? Discuss ways in which you could do this. I was able to speak more comfortably as the English vocabulary was simple.

What evidence of learning did you identify/document today? Relate this to the ADEC curriculum goals. Explain how particular animals, including humans, respond to night and day. I review what the teacher teach them during the class

Journal 5 week 3 ( journal about my mentor lesson)

What is your general feeling about TP at the end of the day? Today my mentor begin the science week. The teacher used many creative ways to deliver the science subject in a way that is simple or easy to grade 1 and 2.

Reflect on the duties / activities did you carry out during the preschool today. How do you feel about your efforts? Was there anything you could have done to improve the quality of the learning experience for the children? My mentor did an activity about the moon, also the activity teaches the students that the moon is bumpy. A4 black paper with a circle drawing at it, and they start to color the moon using cotton so the moon could be bumpy. In addition, I helped the students to write a sentence about the moon (the bumpy moon).

What was the most interesting activity or strategy you saw your MENTOR use? Why did you think it was interesting and worth noting/remembering? Compare this with previous TP experience. She used tidy up song so students clean their desks.

What progress have you made in terms of your own personal targets for TP this semester? Which TP competencies do you feel you achieved and which do you think that you need to focus on next time? Discuss ways in which you could do this. I think I made progress in understanding the ability of the students for example who can write the moon by his self and who need help in writing it

What evidence of learning did you identify/document today? Relate this to the ADEC curriculum goals. My mentor defends what is the moon and the moon is bumpy.

What was the most important thing you learned about the role of the teacher in managing all aspects of the school day? Compare this with previous TP experience and where possible make links with college based learning. That I have to manage the students to use the materials in a good way like when the used colors they should understand that is used for coloring the moon and not their hand or their friends clothes.

Journal 4 week 2 (Journal about my activity lesson)

What is your general feeling about TP at the end of the day? Today I did my activity lesson, I wasn't that nervous because the teacher helped me a lot in preparing for the lesson so I prepared to do my lesson in a good way.

Reflect on the duties / activities did you carry out during the preschool today. How do you feel about your efforts? Was there anything you could have done to improve the quality of the learning experience for the children? What I could improve or change a little bit that I should have an extra activity for the students because they finished from their activity in 3 min and start to feel little bored. However, what I did is to let them write a simple sentence about their activity as my teacher mentor do.

What was the most interesting activity or strategy you saw your MENTOR use? Why did you think it was interesting and worth noting/remembering? Compare this with previous TP experience. What I did use when I wanted from the students to focus on me instead of the story I said 5,4,3,2,1 and they saw my and listen to directions.

I think I achieved or I understand how I could relate the story or the subject in something that the students do in their life so it will be easy for the students to understand.

What evidence of learning did you identify/document today? Relate this to the ADEC curriculum goals. Read fluently at instructional level with attention to punctuation.  As students read with me in shared reading time, and one groups did guided reading with me

Compare this with previous TP experience and where possible make links with college based learning. That I have to deliver a Lesson that students will enjoy. As I saw my KG mentor in the previous TP deliver numbers using number songs that let the students enjoy the lesson.

Journal 3 week 2 (journal about my mentor lesson)

What is your general feeling about TP at the end of the day? I think after one week at the school I know how the teacher explains the subject and how is the students that need help in the classroom so I think at the end of the day I did well, I was not nervous, and the teacher helped me understand everything.

Reflect on the duties / activities did you carry out during the preschool today. How do you feel about your efforts? Was there anything you could have done to improve the quality of the learning experience for the children? The teacher today used a activity to help grade one writing skills because they have a problem in starting from above to write the letter so the activity was that she draw a blue line and that is the sky and then a green line and that the grass and the last line brown is the ground so she told them that we start from the sky to the ground and up to the grass to make a circle (letter b). It was interesting because the students had learned how to write letter b in a correct way.

What was the most interesting activity or strategy you saw your MENTOR use? Why did you think it was interesting and worth noting/remembering? Compare this with previous TP experience. I think that the activity was great, but the teacher changed where the children wrote the letter, so she create a worksheet that has the three lines so the students could use the paper over and over again instead of using painting.

I think that I made progress in how I explain the subject or how to write letter b in a way that it is sample for the boys to understand like the teacher her hands to show the sky, grass, and the ground so I did the same.

What evidence of learning did you identify/document today? Relate this to the ADEC curriculum goals.   Use efficient and consistent motion to form letters. As the teacher identify letter b and how could they write it using the sky, grass, and ground.

What did I learned about the role of the teacher that the teacher should think about a solution to the problem that her students have. As my teacher did know about the problem in her, students and she start to look for a solution for them.

Journal 2 week 1 (Journal about my introduction lesson)

What is your general feeling about TP at the end of the day? Today was my first time that I explain to all of the students something I was nervous because I didn't think that they will hear me or maybe my language will not be that good but at the end I did okay but not perfect

Reflect on the duties / activities did you carry out during the preschool today. How do you feel about your efforts? Was there anything you could have done to improve the quality of the learning experience for the children? My introduction was about words that end with an and at so what did I do is that I just said the words and then the students wrote the words in the whiteboard but what I did wrong or I want to change is that I should not point to the letters and give the answer to students I should give them some time so they could think.

What was the most interesting activity or strategy you saw your MENTOR use? Why did you think it was interesting and worth noting/remembering? Compare this with previous TP experience. When the students start to make some noise and did not hear the words that I said I remembered that the teacher uses 5, 4,3,2,1 strategy so they could focus on her so I did the same and they listen to me.

Discuss ways in which you could do this. I think I did progress in reading their handwriting because as they wrote the words that end with an and at I had to check if they wrote it correctly or not. I think I need to focus on how could I get their intention to what am saying so for me to do that I think I will use the same style of my mentor in teaching them.

What evidence of learning did you identify/document today? Relate this to the ADEC curriculum goals.   I identify using letters sound knowledge and sound blending to read a text. Because the students learned how to write the words that end with an and at so it will be easy for them to read these word on a text

What was the most important thing you learnt about the role of the teacher in managing all aspects of the school day? Compare this with previous TP experience and where possible make links with college based learning. What is did learned is that I have to know how I could manage the bad behavior in the students. I have to be sure on what I explain because I did explain correctly but some students start to say that they don’t know how to write cat or pan and they practice on these words every day so I thought that the problem was in my way of saying the words, but the teacher said to me that they were just playing around and the way that said the words was okay.

Journal 1 week 1 (Journal about my teacher lesson that I observed)

What is your general feeling about TP at the end of the day? I think I was little nervous because it’s the second day for me so I didn’t yet memorize the names of the children and I didn’t recognize grade two students from grade one students, also I didn’t adjust with the classroom that much but I think at the end of the day I did well.

Reflect on the duties / activities did you carry out during the preschool today. How do you feel about your efforts? Was there anything you could have done to improve the quality of the learning experience for the children? When I think about the activity that the teacher did it was really perfect to the students and she put a lot of efforts doing it like she draws a butterfly and inside it one dot at the first wing and another dot at the second wing the point of this activity is that so the student can see that we can double the same numbers.

What was the most interesting activity or strategy you saw your MENTOR use? Why did you think it was interesting and worth noting/remembering? Compare this with previous TP experience. There is one strategy that I really like is when the students are writing at their whiteboard and the teacher want them to stop writing so what she will do is shake the rattle and all of the student immediately put their hands at their heads. That is great because when I was in the KG my teacher used eyes on my, but this strategy does not need to talk.

Discuss ways in which you could do this. Actually I didn't have a target but know when I am currently at TP I think I made some targets and that I have to improve my spelling because the students ask everything until now I didn't miss up with spelling but I think I should have more information about how could write lots of vocabularies.

Well I think my teacher achieved recall doubles and halves facts up to double, most of the students did know how could they double the numbers and that numbers should be the same because when she did ask them using her fingers can we double 3 and 2 they said no they should be the same number and then she showed them 4 and 4 and they said yes we could double and its 8.

Well I think that I learned how could I manage the classroom and how could I control the bad behavior and I know that the teacher has a big role in the classroom and the students believe that the teacher know everything, so I think that I learned the role of the teacher from both of teachers that were my mentors last year and this year.
